After a long road to recovery, I see clearly now the people that matter, the people who have supported me through difficult times of loosing my independence and the ability to walk.<\/p>
Joining the royal engineers at the late at of 31, doing my bit for my country I thought I would feel a sense of achievement but I feel nothing but pain and suffering that has effected my life forever.<\/p>
Discharged from the army after 5 years and A time in my life where a safeguarding was raised by social services as a duty of care, daily police visits were a regular occourance due to the risk I posed to myself .<\/p>
Having to Rely on carers to wash and dress me, my mental health spiralled out of control, so much so My wife who provided care for me at the time found me hiding in a cupboard in my bedroom having panic attacks and flash backs.<\/p>
Previously sectioned for 10 days in Catterick Army hospital under the mental health act it\u2019s hard to comprahend how poorly I was.<\/p>
Serving my country, breaking my back, 3 operations later and struggling with civilian life I was wheelchair bound and found myself homeless.<\/p>
Attending one to one intervention and cognitive therapy provided by Folkestone\u2019s mental health team, Reading my medical records and understanding my diagnosis of PSYCHOSIS and COMPLEX PTSD has been extremly difficult<\/p>
At an all time low I wasn\u2019t in control of my mental or physical well being, I was fortunate enough to be introduced to organisations like the rainbow centre & action on homelessness in Folkestone. These organisations have without a doubt been a rock and a pillar of support in my road to recovery. Meeting volunteers that actually care for your well being was such a massive support. These charities will be in my heart forever. I am truely thankful<\/p>
I wonder sometimes how it would feel if I wasn\u2019t taking my medication?<\/p>
I wonder if I would be in control?<\/p>
Am I going to be reliant on this medication for the rest of my life?<\/p>
Slowly gaining the confidence in myself to have a passion for life again. I realise now how lost I was and how far I\u2019ve come<\/p>
Having the support from my wife and the amazing network of close friends who are encouraging me day by day making my dream of owning my own shop a reality.<\/p>
The plan is have Part show room for my upcycle art and Part shop selling all vintage collectible sportswear<\/p>
